Custom Spa Construction

More Than a Hot Tub — A Custom Spa Built for You

There’s a big difference between a prefab hot tub and a custom in-ground spa built by a licensed pool contractor. Castle Pools designs and builds custom spas that integrate seamlessly with your outdoor space — whether standalone or connected to a pool.

We’ve been building custom spas across Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra, St. Johns County, and Northeast Florida since 2007. Every spa is designed to your exact specifications: size, seat configuration, jet placement, lighting, and finishes — all custom.

Integrated Pool Spas

A spa that flows directly into your pool with a spillover feature. Heated separately so you can use both simultaneously.

Standalone Custom Spas

A permanent, high-end alternative to portable hot tubs — with better aesthetics, better materials, and no maintenance headaches.

Swim Spa Combinations

Resistance swimming, exercise, and relaxation in a single footprint. Designed and built to order.

Common Questions

Custom Spa FAQs

What’s the difference between a custom in-ground spa and a portable hot tub?
A custom in-ground spa is built into your property as a permanent structure. It uses better materials, looks dramatically better, lasts much longer, and adds real value to your home. Portable hot tubs are temporary and don’t add property value.
Can a spa be added to an existing pool?
In most cases, yes. We can design and build a spa that integrates with your existing pool. Feasibility depends on your current pool’s plumbing and available yard space. We’ll assess this during your free consultation.
How much does a custom in-ground spa cost in Jacksonville?
A standalone custom in-ground spa typically starts around $20,000–$35,000 depending on size and features. A spa integrated into a new pool build is generally more cost-effective than adding one later. We offer financing through Lyon Financial.
Do you handle permits for spa construction?
Yes. We manage all permits for spa construction in Duval, St. Johns, Clay, and surrounding counties.
How long does it take to build a custom in-ground spa?
A standalone spa build typically takes 4–8 weeks depending on design complexity and permit processing. A spa added during a new pool build is coordinated within the pool construction timeline.
Can an in-ground spa be used year-round in Jacksonville?
Yes. Jacksonville’s mild climate makes in-ground spas usable year-round. We install efficient gas or electric heaters and can add smart automation so you can set the temperature remotely.
Is an in-ground spa harder to maintain than a portable hot tub?
In-ground spas are actually easier to maintain long-term. They use the same filtration and chemistry as your pool, share equipment if integrated, and don’t have the portable components that wear out on packaged hot tubs.
Do you build custom spas in Ponte Vedra and St. Johns County?
Yes. We build throughout St. Johns County including Ponte Vedra Beach, Nocatee, St. Augustine, Fleming Island, and surrounding communities. We handle all county-specific permitting.
